About BorrowPower

BorrowPower is an independent Australian planning site for the questions that come before a home-loan decision: what you may be able to borrow, what a purchase could cost upfront, whether repayments fit your budget, and whether refinancing is worth the switching costs.

There is no sign-up, sales call or lender recommendation. The aim is to make the early maths clear enough that you can ask better questions of a lender, broker, conveyancer or licensed adviser.

What you can do here

How the estimates are built

BorrowPower uses transparent, standardised assumptions rather than lender-specific underwriting. The borrowing calculator uses 2026/27 resident income-tax settings, a 3% serviceability buffer, dependant expense floors and an approximate LMI model. Purchase-cost estimates use the shared state duty tables and a separate reviewed first-home rule set where the inputs are sufficient.

That makes the results useful for scenario planning, but not a promise of approval, a quote or a concession decision. Lenders, insurers and state revenue offices can apply rules that an online tool cannot fully test.

Each calculator explains the important limits in context. The FAQ and data and methodology page provide the broader picture and source links.

Independence and privacy

BorrowPower does not recommend a specific lender, loan product or broker, and it is not a credit provider. The site may be supported by advertising. It does not require an account to use the calculators.

Calculator event tracking is designed not to send the figures you enter. The optional Remember my inputs setting stores applicable borrowing-calculator inputs on your device. See the Privacy Policy for how website analytics and advertising technologies are handled.
