RBA Interest Rate Decisions: What It Means for You
Updated 21 August 2026 · 4 min read
The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) sets the cash rate target at scheduled Monetary Policy Board meetings. On 11 August 2026, the Board left the cash rate target unchanged at 4.35%. Even a small change — such as 0.25% — can materially shift a mortgage budget.

How to follow the next decision
The Board meets eight times each year. For the current meeting calendar, decision and statement, use the RBA Monetary Policy Decisions page. Your lender may change its own variable rates on a different timetable, and need not move by the same amount as the cash rate.
